Clover End of Service Announcement - 2024-12 effective 2025-02

Clover made an End of Life / Support announcement back in December announcing that a $99.95 per device End of Support Fee would be implemented on or around February 1, 2025. This date has been pushed presumably to May 1, 2025.

What it Means:

End of Support means that certain assistance will no longer be possible on End of Support devices. At this time, this does not appear to mean that Clover will not support merchants with questions about software related concerns. It simply means, for now, that some hardware related issues will not be supported.

Which Devices are Impacted?

  • Station 2 (2018) {Serial # Prefix: C050} ends support on 9/30/2024
  • Station Pro {Serial # Prefix: C053} ends support on 9/30/2024
  • Mini 2nd Gen (LTE+WIFI) {Serial # Prefix: C032} ends support on 11/30/2024

How to Tell Which Devices Are Being Used?

If you or your merchant don't know which version of each device is being used in store, you can:

  • Go into your Clover dashboard and log in as an admin or manager using your PIN code.
  • Open the diagnostics app that's located on your home screen.
  • Scroll down until you see "Additional Details" and open it.
  • Look at the "This Device" line. It will display both the model number and serial number.

Now that we've defined the problem, it makes sense to explore solutions. This fee is real, and it will come. It is a Clover fee - not a fee imposed by a processor. Giving the benefit of the doubt to Clover, it's likely an attempt to streamline the versions of hardware they have in the market to improve support or reduce cost of support.

Option 1: Eat the Fee

Depending on the age of your hardware and how well it is working for you, it may make sense to eat the fee and continue operating your store. $99.95 is far less than the cost of a new device.

Option 2: Upgrade Your Hardware

There are a lot of benefits to upgrading Clover hardware. Enhanced security, faster processing speeds, and access to "bumper-to-bumper" customer service are three big ones.

Option 3: Move to a New Solution

If you're currently using Clover and your devices are at End of Service, we will credit your merchant $99.95 per device (workstation is one device, handheld is one device) if you move to one of our offered POS systems to help ease the burden of moving point of sale. All we will need to see is the serial number of the impacted devices so we can properly apply your credit.
