Saving cards on file is easy with iPOS. One of the great features of iPOS is that you can verify a card without charging it. When would you use this feature?

  • Account Creation: as an additional verification step in creating a customer account, you may require them to put a card on file. This prevents you from having to chase down payment information after you deliver an order or service (great for field services).
  • No Show Fee: barbers, dentists, consultants - when a customer books time on your calendar, that prevents anyone else from booking that time slot. If the customer never shows you've wasted that slot. Capturing their card information before the appointment (at booking) allows you to charge that card a cancellation fee.
NOTE: You must have an active CloudPOS subscription to use this feature. If you are using a connected terminal and need to add this please shoot us a note at hello@tricera.io

Step 1: Create a Customer

The first step in storing and verifying a card is to create a customer in iPOS.

  1. Go to My Customers and then from the drop down on the top left, choose Add customer.
  2. Enter the customer information. First Name and either Phone or Email is required.
  3. Click Save and Add Card.

Step 2: Add Card

  1. On the add card screen, enter the card details. Do not enter an amount if you don't want to charge the card.
  2. You'll get an Approved! message if the card is good and it will then be stored to the customer. If it was declined validation it won't be added to the customer, but the customer will have already been created.
  3. Now that the card is saved, you'll be brought back to your My Customers area and you'll see that the card is stored.
  4. To charge the stored card, simply click the menu next to the card and choose Run a sale.
  5. Enter the transaction information and click the Process button.
