Every merchant account is boarded with an expected Maximum Ticket amount. This is the highest transaciton your account expeects to process and the approval process will take this into account.
The processing environment will automatically flag and hold transactions at or over this amount.
Example:
If your account is boarded with a $4,000 maximum transaction and you do two transactions, one for $500 and one for $4,000, you will see a deposit of $500 (less any fees). The $4,000 transaction would be automatically withheld from deposit.
What happens if I process a transaction over my max ticket?
Typically a ticket is created the next morning by 12pm EST. This ticket will include the amount of the transaction, the date of the transaction, and a request for information. The request will typically include:
Copy of an invoice showing what was purchased
Copy of a signed receipt or agreement
Contact information for the customer
When will funds be released?
Typically, funds are released the next business morning from when the information request has been satisfied.
Very Important:
A receipt from your gateway/terminal is NOT the same as an invoice. The invoice or customer agreement should show what was purchased and any related terms of that purchase. This is the most important part of the risk hold and cannot be bypassed.
