If your Dejavoo P1 (or other P-series terminal) is forcing you to chip the card three times and then swipe, the terminal MAY need to be replaced.
How to Determine if You Need a Replacement
Before we go too crazy, let’s do a hard reboot of the device.
On the side of the terminal there is a silver power button. Press and hold this for 3 seconds until you see a prompt to Power Off or Reboot.
Tap Reboot
You will get an alert saying “Your device will reboot”.
Tap OK.
Allow the device to complete the reboot and test a chip transaction.
If the hard reboot doesn’t work, we recommend doing a Factory Reset. This is best done with help from your agent or our team.
Immediate Workarounds
If you are awaiting replacement or doing a Factory Reset, the Dejavoo P-series devices have built in NFC readers at the top of the device and allow for keyed transactions. You can:
Best: Tap eligible EMV cards much like you would Apple Pay or Google Pay
Next Best: Key in transactions that cannot be tapped
Last Resort: Attempt to chip the card three times to trigger “fallback” swipe
