It's frustrating when transactions don't go through, especially when the error code isn't specific. Error code 12 is a bit of a catch all response code. Here are steps to address and hopefully get you back on track to accepting SNAP food benefit purchases:
- Do a balance inquiry to verify that there are funds available for the purchase you are attempting
- Check with our team to ensure that the correct FNS number is registered to your account and is lodged in the terminal file build
- Call the SNAP Retailer Service Center at 1-877-823-4369 with the card number and transaction amount in question. Invalid Transaction is a host response and in this case, this response is generated by the issuer and passed through to the device from the processor.
